Yesterday I headed up north to see my friend Sylvie, her husband Russ and newborn baby Jamie. I walked the three miles from my sister's place to Kings Cross. It was good to to break in my hiking boots a bit more and test out my camera with some London shots. I grabbed the train to Grantham where I was met by Sylv. Grantham itself is a bit gray and depressing in an English way, but her home 30 minutes away is lovely. It's a stone cottage in a little town with a pub just doors down. She updated me on what life is like with a wee baby - lots of crying and nursing and sleepless nights - but wonderful and lovely and amazing. We had a great pub meal and they gave me great advice on traveling. Russ is South African and Sylvie spent a bit of time living and travelling in east Africa. They had good stories of their own experience and it was an overall great time. Now back at my sister's, downloading pics and preparing fondue for dinner. So far the trip has been pretty luxurious. I doubt that will last very long but I'm enjoying it for now. I think I'm going to keep posting a few choice photos here, but upload the rest to snapfish and link to it from facebook. I think that should cover everyone. But certainly email me if you've got better ideas... :)
